The St. Helena Parish Police Jury heard a presentation from April Newsome, St. Helena Parish Branch Manager for the Audubon Regional Library, at its June 9 meeting about the library's upcoming Summer Reading Program and an open seat on the Library Board following the death of a board member.
Newsome thanked the Police Jury and parish residents for their continued support, including the recent renewal of the library millage. She outlined program planning and noted the board vacancy but no action was taken at the meeting to fill that vacancy.
The presentation was informational; jurors did not vote on any library funding or board appointments during the session. Jurors were made aware of the vacancy and the library's outreach plans for the summer program, which Ms. Newsome said are intended to serve parish children and families.
