Houston County awards $5.18 million LMIG road contract to Reames and Son Construction

Commissioner Byrd presented bids for the LMIG road project and the board unanimously accepted the low bid from Reames and Son Construction of Valdosta in the amount of $5,178,575.31. Commissioner Byrd noted the County’s portion of the project is $2,948,046.76 and that funding will come from LMIG, LRA and 2018 SPLOST funds. The contract is expected to be completed by the end of November 2026.
Chairman Dan Perdue thanked Warner Robins City Administrator James Drinkard and city partners (Warner Robins, Perry, Centerville, Byron) for cooperation enabling joint mobilization of larger contractors. Commissioner Byrd said the lowest bid was about 8% below the next-highest bid, which the board said helps realize cost savings for the County.
