Commissioners unanimously voted to approve a letter endorsing a UDOT-funded feasibility study for a non-motorized trail linking Mount Carmel Avenue to East Zion. "UDOT has funded, I think it's over $350,000 a study to do a multi use trail, not motorized, but for biking and walking from Mount Carmel up into the East Zion," said Kathy Kelly during the presentation.
Board members discussed local interest from towns such as Orderville and Mount Carmel, the geological issues on the roadway (noting movement of a fault line), and that the study requires no county match but seeks county concurrence. A motion to accept the letter was made and commissioners responded "Aye," approving endorsement and signaling willingness to support construction if the study finds the project is feasible and safe.
