Commissioners approve No Parking sign on CR 54 in Lewistown; discuss countywide water district and trail study

County staff also updated commissioners on a Logan County trail study and a proposed event venue renovation near the Board of Elections site.
On Dec. 12 the Logan County Board of Commissioners approved an Engineer request to install a No Parking sign on the west side of County Road 54 beginning at the CR 91 intersection and ending about 275 feet southwest of that intersection; the engineer’s office will install the sign following Washington Township trustees’ concurrence. The action was recorded as Resolution 289-24.
Commissioners and representatives from Lakeview and Russells Point discussed the idea of a countywide water district to update and regulate wells, particularly where lot sizes are small and properties may share wells. Logan County Health District representatives said a countywide district could help standardize water quality, but village representatives cautioned the project would be large and costly; commissioners took no action.
Administrator David Henry also reported that stakeholders are participating in a Logan County Trail Study with ODOT and local partners to explore regional trail connections from Bellefontaine to Indian Lake and beyond. Henry relayed that new private owners plan to renovate the former AME Church next to the Board of Elections into The Maxwell Event Venue and will meet county maintenance staff and a commissioner after the new year to discuss drainage and neighbor concerns.
No votes were taken on the water district or the trail study; the sign installation and appropriations for bills and health insurance were approved as recorded in resolutions passed during the Dec. 12 meeting.
