Economic development director wins Rural Champions Grant; local trail group schedules I-70 rest-area workday

Economic Development Director Stephanie Imthurn told the commission on April 27 that she has been named one of nine recipients of the Rural Champions Grant. Imthurn said completion of the training program will make her eligible to apply for seed money to support local initiatives.
Imthurn also reported that Top City Trails will hold its first workday at the I-70 Rest Area near Paxico and that tree clearing at that site has been completed by Michael Stubbs and Howard Neff. She said seven Wabaunsee County residents attended a one-day Jon Shallert Destination Bootcamp in Lyndon; two of those attendees plan to go on to the full 20-hour class in Denver and received tuition grants from NetWork Kansas to cover that training.
The economic development update was informational; no motions or funding commitments were recorded at the meeting.
