Private firm pitches solar-plus-storage plan for Bellefontaine Airport

Brian King, CEO and co-founder of Sky Solar Energy, presented a proposal to the Logan County commissioners on Dec. 10 to develop sustainable energy infrastructure at Bellefontaine Airport, including solar arrays and energy storage.
King told the board he is developing privately funded hangars, airport microgrids and modernization projects and said he will next reach out to the City of Bellefontaine to present the proposal locally. "Development of the Bellefontaine Airport sustainable energy through solar and storage," King said when summarizing his plans to commissioners.
Commissioners received the proposal as an informational briefing; no formal county commitments or approvals were recorded in the Dec. 10 or 12 meetings. County staff or city officials who wish to evaluate the proposal would need to review site control, airport operations implications and any intergovernmental approvals that may be required before permitting or construction.
