The Houston County Board of Commissioners on March 17 approved an amendment to a May 6, 2025 Memorandum of Agreement with Mental Health Matters of Middle Georgia that changes how existing opioid-settlement funds are distributed to strengthen awareness, treatment-resource promotion and opioid-harm education.
Commissioner Robinson presented the amendment and the Board voted unanimously to approve it. Chairman Perdue said the revised distribution redirects existing funds to address gaps in services identified by judicial staff. The amendment does not increase the total award amount; it reallocates how the existing funds will be used locally.
County officials described the change as a recalibration of priorities to better match observed service gaps. The Board did not record additional budgetary amounts in the meeting minutes; no new funding was requested.
