The Sedgwick County Board of Bids and Contracts voted to accept Meese Construction Inc.'s low bid of $484,595.50 for project B498, a multi‑barreled box structure replacement under 143rd Street East between Pawnee Street and 31st Street South. A Public Works representative read an engineer's estimate of $931,924.35 and recommended accepting Meese's lower bid as the best value.
"On behalf of public works, recommend to accept the low bid for Meese Construction Incorporated in the amount of $484,595.50," the presenter said. The board received no substantive questions, the motion was moved and seconded, and the clerk recorded ayes from Jennifer Blasey, Anna Meyer Hochul and Russell Leeds. The motion carried.
The project was described as addressing a structurally deficient existing structure; staff said the work is subject to available funding and had been advertised for competitive solicitation per purchasing procedures. The county did not provide construction start or completion dates in the meeting record.
