Sedgwick County approves Cox Business contract, adds mobility feature for key phone lines

Sedgwick County approved a 36-month Cox Business contract for $178,155 that renews phone service for the county and adds an IP-managed mobility feature for 12 designated lines. Jamie O'Loughlin of the Division of Information Technology asked the board to accept the quote "in the amount of $178,155 for a period of 36 months," explaining the mobility feature will let staff forward key numbers to alternate numbers if the phone system is down.
IT Infrastructure Director James Arns and CIO Mike Elpers explained the feature supports COOP (continuity of operations) by enabling forwarding for 12 critical lines and that the additional cost is about $5 per line per month (approximately $60/month for the 12 lines, or about $720 per year) over the 36-month contract. The board moved, seconded and approved the contract by recorded vote.
