Rusty told commissioners the item is a routine annual federal grant the state passes through to local emergency management departments to reimburse a portion of salaries and training costs.
"It's basically gonna be a flat, amount from 2023, about $153,000 and it is essentially it's a reimbursement," Rusty said, adding past amounts had been lower and that the county designates which employees and what portions of salary the reimbursement will cover. Staff said paperwork would be provided to route the item into the meeting packet.
Commissioners asked clarifying questions about the program and were told the bulk of the funds go to employee salaries, with a small allocation for training and exercises. The board did not take a vote during the agenda review; the item was presented as a consent agenda grant renewal subject to packet approval.
