"The other American language is Spanish," Whiteman said when arguing for making Spanish the standard second language offering. He also described a decades-long career in education and proposed a senior seminar or alternative course to teach practical knowledge (banking, withholding, civics and consumer math) to students not pursuing college.
Board members thanked Whiteman for the suggestion and discussed how the district could expand world-language options and curricular alternatives, including reaching out to community or ESD partners for program support.
