VHS robotics wins 5 of 5 qualification matches, advances to additional qualifier

Vernonia High School's robotics team won five of five qualification matches and finished fourth out of 24 teams at a recent competition, coach Brett Costley told the board. The team missed state qualification by two points but is scheduled for another chance to qualify at a match in Philomath on Feb. 21 and 22.
Costley and district leaders framed the result as a strong showing for students in the robotics program. The board applauded the team's performance and noted the upcoming Philomath competition as the next opportunity for state qualification.
