At its Feb. 12 meeting the Vernonia School District Board of Directors unanimously set student transfer limits at three out-of-district students per grade level for the 2026–27 school year. The motion was made by Alicia Mahoney and seconded by Lisa Curry; the motion passed unanimously.
Superintendent Jim Helmen explained the intent: the limits are a tool to keep class sizes manageable should transfer requests increase. Helmen said the limits might not be needed but recommended the cap of three per grade as a prudent planning measure. The board recorded no amendments to the motion and set the transfer-limits policy to apply for the 2026–27 school year.
