On June 2 the Board approved using $7,500 from HOST (hotel/motel) funds to assist Houston County Family Connection with professional CPA services to reinstate its 501(c)(3) status and to support the organization’s 2026 Back to School Bash scheduled for July 24, 2026. Commissioner Talton presented the request and the motion passed unanimously.
Chairman Perdue recognized Executive Director Valkyrie Anderson in attendance and thanked the organization for its community work. The funding is intended to cover reinstatement fees and CPA costs and to underwrite event support; the motion identified HOST fees as the funding source.
