Vernonia board approves multiple district policies on second reading

On Dec. 11 the Vernonia SD 47J board approved a package of second-reading policies including military leave, expenditure rules, curriculum, sick leave, budget committee updates, board ethics, graduation requirements and student records.
The Vernonia School District Board of Directors approved a set of policies presented for second reading during the Dec. 11, 2025 meeting. The policies included GCBDE/GDBDE (military leave of absence), DJ-AR (expenditure of district funds for meals, refreshments and gifts), IF (district curriculum), GCBD/GDBD (sick leave), DBEA (budget committee version 2), BBFA (board member ethics and conflicts of interest), IKF (graduation requirements), IGBHD (program exemptions), CEA (educational equity advisory committee), and IGBAB/JO-AR (education records/records of students with disabilities management).
Board member Joanie Jones moved to approve the policies and Alicia Mahoney seconded; the motion "passed unanimously" according to the minutes. The board did not attach amendments to the policies at the meeting and will implement them under standard district procedures.
