Houston County commissioners on June 2 approved awarding a targeted roof-repair contract for the Detention Center to Skyline Construction Services, Inc. of Milledgeville for $99,320 and authorized a $15,000 contingency, bringing total project authorization to $114,320. The Board recorded that this is a 2018 SPLOST-funded project, and the contractor is expected to complete the repairs within 90 days of approval.
Commissioner Talton said the approved repairs are intended to extend the life of a portion of the jail roof until a larger 2024 SPLOST-funded replacement can be scheduled. The Board approved the award unanimously.
