Goddard mayor invites county to senior center grand opening, outlines support plans

Mayor George Lieb of Goddard told the Sedgwick County Commission he wanted to "personally invite you to our Senior Center Grand Opening on the 19th at 03:00," and described recent community accomplishments. He said his city is starting a Meals on Wheels program Oct. 1 and has recruited local partners (including a volunteer arrangement with Walmart) to help with delivery and services.
Lieb outlined local investments and volunteer activity: a community garden with roughly 85—90 participants, volunteer-built playground cleanup, and a planned five-year street-repair program he said will allocate $5,000,000 per year. He stated the city "will fully fund the senior program this year at $46,000" and thanked the county for its support. Commissioners thanked the mayor and noted county staff will follow up on auditing and inventorying senior-center resources as the county studies funding models.
