The draft Short-Term Rental Registry Ordinance requires owners to register a short-term rental with the Town of Montgomery "prior to its availability as a Short-Term Rental being listed, advertised, or otherwise marketed or prior to its first occupancy as a Short-Term Rental, whichever is earlier."
For rentals already in existence when the ordinance takes effect, owners would have 60 days after the effective date to submit a complete initial registration; the Town may grant a single 30-day extension for good cause. The ordinance sets the initial application fee at $300 per dwelling unit, on-time renewal fee at $250 per dwelling unit if filed by May 1, and a late renewal fee of $300 for renewals filed after May 1 but by May 31. Failure to renew by May 31 would forfeit the right to renew and any new application would be treated as an initial registration.
