Hampton Lumber presented two checks of $23,000 each to benefit Clatsop County students in fisheries and career and technical education programs, the board heard at its May 13 meeting. Presenters said the auction-supported funds are raised locally and noted that since 2022 the program has distributed more than $700,000 to area high schools.
Board Chair Neal Bond asked staff to present at the next meeting what the district has used similar funds for, and trustees additionally requested a June presentation specifically detailing how CTE and fisheries funds have been spent. The contribution is earmarked for student participation in fisheries and CTE activities at the high school level.
