Engineer reports taxi-lane dispute with contractor; FAA talks under way on Hangar J purchase

Nick Kowalkowski, representing Woolpert, presented the engineering report at the Feb. 12 meeting and said a letter regarding construction of a new taxi lane was sent to E & B Paving, which returned a rebuttal disputing some of the claims. The board discussed the contractor's response and agreed that shifting the spring start date to April was acceptable because E & B will not open its pavement plant until then. Nick said he will draft a response to E & B and work with Manager Erica Burkemper on the language before sending it.
Kowalkowski also updated the board on recent meetings with the Federal Aviation Administration about the possible purchase of Hangar J. He said the board may be able to submit a grant application for the purchase and expects to have more information in about two to three weeks. Commissioners asked for updates as discussions progress.
