A commissioner raised a question about the Canada Museum’s operating request after noting the museum director, Dave Mead, was in attendance.
According to the commissioner, the museum’s own request totaled $379,245.96 while the chair’s budget as circulated reduces that amount to $350,000. “Just so that Dave is aware with what the chair has brought forth here … the request that you made this year would be $379,245.96. The chair in his budget version … has decreased that to $350,000,” the commissioner said and asked that the museum be given an opportunity to present its numbers.
Why it matters: the discrepancy is material to the museum’s operations and any cut or reclassification could affect programming; the board indicated it would offer the museum an opportunity to explain its request through liaison conversations or at a meeting prior to the public hearing.
