Board honors local volunteers, proclaims Ruritan and Community Action months

The Patrick County Board of Supervisors used a portion of its May 11 meeting to recognize local volunteers and community groups. The Board recognized Sandra Woods Heath as the May 2026 Patrick County Partner for her long service with the Soil and Water Conservation District, farm-bureau leadership, and youth programs. County Administration also recognized Donna Shough for 22 years of service.
The Board approved proclamations honoring Ruritan Awareness Month and Community Action Month in recognition of local Ruritan club service and STEP, Inc.'s 60 years of work in the region. Pamela Smith (Dan River District Governor) and Michael Armbrister (STEP CEO) both addressed the Board in support of those proclamations. Each proclamation was approved by unanimous voice vote among attending members.
