"We're spending an extra $30,000 to put a drain system in so it can go out to those tanks," he said, adding the company plans regular third-party testing of holding tanks and measures to prevent spills, control dust and limit noise. City Administrator Miss Wagner subsequently read the ordinance language granting the conditional use permit to Northland Recycle and Transfer at the specified address.
Why it matters: The permit would allow a facility handling municipal solid waste in an industrial area near Smithville; councilors thanked the applicants for working with staff and noted state oversight would be an ongoing part of operations. The council recorded the roll-call result as five in favor and one opposed.
