The Cumberland County Board of Supervisors on June 9 approved an appropriation of up to $150,000, on a reimbursement basis, for a county water and wastewater infrastructure project. The motion was made by Supervisor John Newman, seconded by Supervisor Paul Stimpson, and carried with Supervisor Eurika Tyree absent.
Several public commenters had earlier urged the board to seek contributions from Dominion for water-related work. Jerry Dunford said he did not believe Cumberland citizens should shoulder costs associated with the Dominion project, and Ron Tavernier asked the board to re-review existing water infrastructure and urged that Dominion help fund the project. The minutes record these comments during the public comment portion of the agenda.
