Westfir council appoints Richard Watson as mayor in unanimous 3–0 vote

Council President Deretta Huey called a special Westfir City Council meeting to order at 5:33 p.m. on Jan. 29, 2025. Huey moved to appoint Councilor Richard Watson as mayor, to accept his resignation from City Council Seat 1 and to declare a vacancy for that seat; Councilor Linda M. Love seconded the motion. The motion carried 3–0, with the minutes recording AYES: Huey, Love, Watson; NAYS: 0; ABSTENTIONS: 0.
Following the vote, Richard Watson took the oath of office for mayor; City Recorder Nicole Tritten notarized the oath. Council President Huey then adjourned the meeting at 5:48 p.m. The meeting minutes for Jan. 29, 2025, were signed by Mayor Richard Watson and City Recorder Nicole Tritten on Feb. 5, 2025.
