The Mount Holly Select Board voted at an emergency meeting July 21 to correct a calculation error and set the FY27 municipal tax rate at 0.4823.
Board members moved quickly after discovering a spreadsheet error used in the rate calculation. Marc Miller said the rate "should be 0.4823, not 0.4816 as approved at the previous Select Board meeting," and Diana Garrow moved to set the FY27 rate at 0.4823. Mark Turco seconded the motion and the board approved it. The Chair called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and adjourned it at 6:02 p.m.
Mr. Turco noted that Selectman Jeff Chase was not present but that "the two Select Board members formed a quorum and can make this decision," allowing the board to act at the emergency meeting. The minutes of the emergency session remain in draft until approved at the next regularly scheduled Select Board meeting.
The correction replaces the previously approved rate of 0.4816 with 0.4823 for FY27. No vote tally beyond "approved" was recorded in the minutes provided; no ordinance, statute, or external authority was cited during the discussion.
