Residents and officials debate Cider Days closures; board asks MHCA to revise proposal

Representatives of the Mount Holly Community Association asked the Select Board to approve road closures and parking limits for the town's Cider Days event. Linda Miller said MHCA was concerned about parking and traffic and proposed closing Maple Hill Road and Belmont Road in front of the Belmont General Store while limiting parking on Church Street, Healdville and Tarbellville Roads.
Highway and Transfer Station representative Clinton Woolley objected to closing Belmont Road because it serves as the main route to Tarbellville Road and closing it would impede emergency vehicles turning from Lake Street onto Church Street and continuing to Tarbellville Road. The board directed Linda Miller to discuss the proposal further with the MHCA board and return with a plan that keeps Belmont, Church and Lake streets open while identifying preferred sides for parking along local roads.
