Select Board approves winter sand purchase, swap shed closure and renews electronics recycling agreement

Concerns about items placed in the metal and C&D containers prompted a motion from Jeff Chase to close the swap shed effective Sept. 1. Chase said the closure is meant to reduce improper disposal and encourage use of donation channels like Goodwill and Black River Good Neighbors. The board also moved to ensure transfer station attendants are not required to work on holidays that fall on their scheduled days.
Clinton Woolley requested follow-up in executive session about trash discovered on July 4th and staffing. Board members discussed contract timing with Casella, which runs through October and may affect removal of open-top containers.
