Commissioners extend wagering approval for Wyoming Horse Racing through 2029 with revocation clause

The Sweetwater County commissioners voted unanimously Aug. 19 to approve Resolution 25-08-CC-01, consolidating satellite wagering approvals for Wyoming Horse Racing LLC's Rock Springs and Green River locations and extending the term through Dec. 31, 2029.
John Sheldon, executive vice president of Wyoming Horse Racing, said the company sought alignment with state gaming license terms and was comfortable with either of two draft options before the board. "We're here really just to follow-up on the meeting that Nick Hughes had with you in person 2 weeks ago," Sheldon said, and requested the extension to match the gaming license period. Commissioners discussed two options — one without a revocation clause and one that included a revocation provision for gross negligence or violations of statutes, rules or local ordinances — and selected the latter. The motion approved a term through 12/31/2029 with a revocation clause for gross violations; the vote was unanimous.
The action aligns county permitting with the operator's gaming license term and cleans up inconsistent language across existing resolutions for local satellite facilities. The board recorded no public opposition during the hearing and said it values the ongoing partnership with the racing entity.
