Board members conducted a public evaluation of Superintendent Beth Giese using the district’s standard evaluation form. The chair read each question and board members provided scores and short comments on items such as leadership of educational programs, communication with the board, financial oversight, strategic planning and delegation.
Across items, most board members rated the superintendent highly with average scores in the upper range. During the discussion Giese summarized results of an anonymous staff survey she had initiated: 96% of staff said communication from the superintendent is clear, and 92% said she is visible in the school and community. Giese framed the survey results as affirmation of positive change while acknowledging areas to improve, including routine delegation and availability at both buildings. "Every single person that responded said that I try to create a positive environment," she said.
The board will compile the individual evaluation forms into a single board response, place it in the superintendent’s personnel file and bring a summary to a future meeting. Members thanked Giese for her leadership and noted the evaluation process was constructive.
