Travel Lane County told the Westfir City Council it plans a ribbon-cutting at Portal Park on May 30, 2025, to mark the Aufderheide Scenic Bikeway designation. Connor Nolan, representing Travel Lane County by video, described the event and asked the city to waive the standard rental fee.
Councilor Deretta Huey moved to waive the $200 Portal Park rental fee; Councilor Linda M. Love seconded and the motion carried, 3–0 (Watson, Huey, Love). The waiver clears the way for the county’s planned ribbon-cutting and related activities at the park.
The Portal Maintenance Operator later reported ongoing maintenance needs at Portal Park, including bids to repair a leaking skylight in the men’s bathroom, parking-lot striping, and pump-track improvements. The Council did not tie the fee waiver to new maintenance funding; separate maintenance requests will be addressed through routine channels.
