Westfir council declares vacancies after mayor‑elect and councilor resignations

During its Dec. 11 special meeting the Westfir City Council declared two official vacancies. Mayor D’Lynn Williams said Mayor‑elect Shawn Anderson had resigned by email; the mayor moved to declare a vacancy for the mayoral office, a motion seconded by Councilor Kelly Packard and approved 4–0.
Later the council acknowledged that Councilor Kelly Packard had submitted a letter resigning from Council Seat 1 effective Dec. 31, 2024. Mayor Williams moved to declare that seat vacant; Councilor Edward Johnstone seconded and the motion carried 4–0. The minutes do not record any public comment on either resignation or discussion of replacement procedures.
