Outgoing Mayor D’Lynn Williams called the Jan. 6, 2025 meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance. "Mayor Williams expressed thanks for the support she had received in her ten years on the Council," the minutes record. She noted recent council work including approval of the Park Management Plan for the boat-launch site and the completed heritage survey, then departed at 5:32 p.m.
Linda M. Love and Richard Watson each took the oath of office, notarized by City Recorder Nicole Tritten, creating a quorum. Councilor Deretta Huey volunteered and Councilor Love moved to elect her as Council President; Councilor Watson seconded and the motion carried 3–0. Per the City Charter, Council President Huey chaired the remainder of the meeting.
