Council approves ATAX funding for festivals, patrol equipment, and July 4 fireworks

The Council approved several ATAX Advisory Board recommendations to support tourism and public safety with accommodations-tax funds. Approved allocations included:
- $15,000 to the Town for the 2026 Cookin' on the Creek BBQ Festival (June 5–6) for promotion, advertising, and SC BBQ Association fees. - $18,399.18 to the Town Police Department for a 2026 Gator 4x4 vehicle for Beach Patrol (state contract pricing), to help officers during the heavy tourist season. - $15,000 to support the Town's July 4 Family Fun & Fireworks event at Bay Creek Park (advertising, marketing, fireworks). - $4,850 to the Edisto Art Guild for the Edisto Plein Air Paint Out (Oct. 13–17, 2026) for advertising and promotion.
All four ATAX motions were moved and seconded and passed unanimously.
