Engineer says pump‑station projects moving to construction; village warns of larger coordination needs

Carlos Morales, civil division manager for BCC Engineering, gave the commission a progress update on the stormwater master plan and related projects. He reported four ongoing design tracks—North Bay Island pump stations and two Treasure Island phases among them—and said several consultants have submitted 30% designs and the village expects to go to procurement for the first pump-station project soon.
"We have 4 active projects... We should be going out to procurement soon again. And once we get that procurement going, construction will probably start, by the summer of this year," Morales told the commission. The mayor stressed that recently uncovered coordination issues among consultants and a broader scope of necessary work mean the village's infrastructure needs are larger than anticipated; he reminded the commission that voters approved a $60 million bond to fund drainage and roadway infrastructure projects.
Commissioners asked for follow-up presentations with plans and a March agendaed slideshow so residents can review construction phasing and impacts. Staff committed to returning with more detailed schedules and to coordinate the public‑works director and consultants for a fuller briefing.
