AJ (S8) told the committee the departure of the house manager prompted a review of structure at the Stoughton Opera House and staff recommended creating an assistant director position focused on community partnerships, fundraising and strategic projects.
AJ said the Stoughton Opera House Friends Association committed to $20,000 per year for 2026–2028 to offset salary and benefits for the new assistant director. Staff presented salary-hour comparisons (assistant director at $38.46/hour versus the house manager at $28.67/hour) and estimated a partial-year 2026 net budget impact of about $6,096 and a potential 2027 over-budget amount of about $15,879 before other offsets. Committee members discussed spreading duties if an office-manager position is not funded and referenced personnel committee review; the committee voted to recommend the staffing change to council.
