Resident raises complaints about Tamworth transfer-station sorting and staff conduct

Daniel McDonald told the Tamworth Select Board on July 14 that he has repeated complaints about the town transfer station, questioning whether recycling is mandatory and describing poor practices and what he called mistreatment by the transfer-station supervisor. Select Board Chair Richard Doucette told him recycling is not mandatory.
Bruno Siniscalchi said he had similar experiences. BJ Pessia, who the board has supported in enforcing transfer-station regulations, said she “asks to not be sworn at or called names,” and encouraged clearer public interaction as guideline changes are considered. Select Board member Lianne Prentice noted this was the first time the complaint came to the board in public and urged residents to submit formal concerns in writing to Town Administrator Emily Nolan so the administration can investigate and respond.
The board did not vote on a policy change at the meeting; members discussed updating the transfer-station guidelines to address items such as pet waste and diapers and said staff would bring proposed language forward for public notice at the facility opening.
