Task force members reviewed water-quality testing conducted by Miami Waterkeeper at Vogel Park as part of a partnership with FIU and Friends of Biscayne Bay. The mayor summarized preliminary results as roughly half the samples favorable and half not, with storm events typically driving poor readings. Staff were asked to forward the Waterkeeper annual report to the task force for review.
The mayor described plans for a traffic-light water-quality sign at the new kayak launch to inform the public of current baywater conditions and said she will coordinate a site visit and a ribbon-cutting event that will include an environmental cleanup. Staff member Gabby offered to schedule one-on-one meetings with task-force members to support their work and follow up on data distribution.
