Commissioners approve $7,000 budget amendment for treasurer's postage and training

The Sweetwater County Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously on June 17 to approve Resolution 25-06-CL-02, a $7,000 amendment to the county treasurer’s operating budget. Accounting specialist Rebecca O’Mearill told commissioners the increase is needed to cover higher-than-expected postage and an employee training expense.
“The increase to postage and then they sent an employee to training that they weren't expecting,” O'Mearill said during the public hearing portion, which drew no comments from the public. Chair (speaker 9) closed the hearing and Commissioner Richards moved the resolution; the motion carried on a unanimous voice vote.
The board noted the amendment will be paid from general fund reserves, and commissioners directed staff to monitor interest earnings and operating costs in the treasurer’s office in the coming year. The vote was recorded as 'motion carries unanimously.'
