The superintendent’s presentation summarized how the funds will be used: hiring instructional assistants, supporting the Vernonia Family Academy online program, paying a high‑school advanced math teacher’s salary from the grant, middle‑school textbook adoption, CTE staffing and manufacturing/robotics materials, testing fees (ACT/PSAT/SAT) and dual‑credit Willamette Promise options. The presenter emphasized that disbursement will be tied to completion and approval of project activities and that the district will report on measurable outcomes such as third‑grade reading, attendance and graduation rates.
A motion to approve the SIA grant agreement was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. Board members asked no additional questions prior to the vote and the chair called the motion passed.
