The Mentor on the Lake City Council approved two related resolutions declaring specific Lake Erie submerged land footprints as not required for municipal navigation or port facilities and confirming that the city's submerged-land lease applications comply with the city's waterfront plan.
Clerk read Resolution 2026-R-24 regarding submerged land at 7661 Salina Road and Resolution 2026-R-26 regarding submerged land at Lake Overlook Beach Park. Staff explained these resolutions are required to lease submerged footprints from the state so existing structures (outfall and beach outfall structures) can be regularized; legal counsel said the language comes straight from the statute and the legislative body must verify permitted uses.
Council moved to suspend the rules and adopted both resolutions by roll-call votes. Staff characterized the measures as ‘‘housekeeping’’ to document past uses and to allow the city to proceed with submerged-land lease applications to the state.
Both resolutions were introduced and read during the meeting (topicintro: SEG 576 for R-24; SEG 756 for R-26) and each passed following suspension and roll-call (topfinish: SEG 675 for R-24; SEG 795 for R-26).
