During the meeting a participant addressed as Peggy described her attendance at a breakout session where she learned that "Daggett County... is one of only two counties in the state of Utah that are not represented ... through the Farm Bureau." She explained the Farm Bureau provides legislative liaisons and planning-and-zoning support to member counties and asked whether the commission wanted her to pursue membership or identify a local representative.
The chair responded that the effort sounded worthwhile and offered to serve as the county's point of contact for the Farm Bureau if the commission wished to proceed. Peggy noted membership carries no fees for the county and could provide local legislative updates and assistance with agriculture-related planning issues. "Daggett County, there's only 2 counties in the state of Utah that are not represented, with the state legislature through the Farm Bureau," Peggy said. Commissioners asked for more information and agreed to follow up.
