Council voted to approve Redevelopment Agreement 254012 to help modernize equipment at a downtown garage owned by Nancy Brown, located at 41 North Kellogg Street.
Staff explained the car elevator failed a state inspection and replacement parts are hard to find. "This agreement aims to retain a long term downtown business by funding a portion of the $62,548.80 total project costs through tax increment financing funds," staff said, adding that the TIF incentive would not exceed $18,007.64. Council members praised the proposal as a way to keep a longstanding business open and approved the agreement by voice vote.
No speakers at the meeting opposed the agreement; staff said the TIF-four redevelopment area has sufficient funds to cover the request.
