At its Jan. 21 meeting the Galesburg City Council approved several routine business items: a five-year fuel supply and delivery agreement with Air Petroleum, an updated classification and salary schedule for exempt employees, and the city’s budgeted FY2025 OPEB contribution of $146,325.
Staff said Air Petroleum submitted the best proposal to supply gasoline and diesel to eight city fuel locations and that each department has budgeted funds for estimated usage. On personnel matters, staff described a number of organizational changes that informed the exempt employee salary schedule, including appointing Aaron Gavin as the director of public works, condensing some IT positions and creating a director of human resources role. "The changes in the salary schedule are consistent with the FY 2025 budget," Hansen said.
On retiree benefits, staff recommended submitting the budgeted FY2025 OPEB contribution of $146,325 to the city’s OPEB trust account; Hansen noted the council has historically contributed roughly $142,550 per year since 2013. Each item was approved by voice vote; the clerk recorded seven yes votes on the measures.
