Elections director: early voting drove over 80% of primary participation; tabulation and audits show no discrepancies

Elections Director Maslir Musa told the Board that early voting remained the dominant method for casting ballots in Coconino County, with "a little over 80%" of voters casting early ballots in the July primary.
Musa reported the county issued 46,303 early ballots and had accepted and counted 20,278 early ballots; rejected early ballots totaled 294 for reasons including late receipt, signature problems and missing envelopes. He said tabulation reached about 78% by 3 a.m. following election night and 98% by Thursday evening, and that bipartisan hand-count audits matched machine results.
"We completed the hand audit count with the representatives appointed by the Republican, Democratic, and the Green Party, and we had a 100% match of those results," Musa said. He also briefed the board on contingency operations when storms caused power outages at three polling locations on the Navajo Nation, saying backup plans allowed voting to continue without affecting voters.
Board members thanked elections staff for training and outreach. The board accepted the presentations and then voted to transmit the canvas to the state.
