City staff outline booster station design steps, public-hearing insert for water project

Public-works staff reported progress on plans for a booster pump station and said the next design step is determining flow through the chlorine system so engineers can size the booster. "We need to get the flow rate figured out through the chlorine system so we can size a booster pump for that," staff said. The council discussed valve configurations and air-release devices to prevent lines from going dry and asked staff to meet with local engineers to finalize design needs.
Council and staff also discussed the timing for required public hearings and the insertion of hearing notices in utility bills. Staff said the water public hearing would be on a council agenda and the transportation hearing at planning and zoning; members tentatively agreed to schedule the water hearing for the early June meeting so the June-bill insert could solicit public notice as required.
