City Manager Mr. Hansen presented Ordinance 24-10-26, a zoning amendment request to change the property at 40 East Simmons Street (the former library site) from an Institutional designation to B-3 Central Business District.
Hansen said the planning and zoning commission recommended approval and that the applicant plans to sell the property and rezone it to allow a variety of mixed uses appropriate to the downtown area, including retail, residential, office and cultural uses. "The planning and zoning commission recommend approval of a zoning amendment from Institutional to B 3 Central Business District for 40 East Simmons Street," Hansen said. The council did not take final action on first reading; the item will come back to the next meeting for further consideration.
