Staff recommended the council approve an agreement with attorney John Robertson of Barash & Ever LLC to serve as the city's independent administrative hearing officer. Mr. Hansen told the council that Robertson "is an attorney licensed to practice law and meets all the qualifications as set forth in the state and municipal code" and that under the agreement Robertson would be compensated at a rate of $200 per hour for hearing officer services.
Staff also said the city would continue to engage Wayne Statham to provide substitute coverage when needed. The council voted 7-0 to approve the contract.
