Upshur County Commission approves routine invoices, settlements, appointments and local grants

During its July 16 meeting the Upshur County Commission approved routine financial and administrative items, including payment of invoices, vacation orders and a list of settlements and certification items. The meeting record includes numerous corrections and exonerations for tax parcels and a consolidation of Meade District tracts to form Tax Map 4L Parcel 11.1 in the name of Carroll Nathaniel.
The Commission approved a request from Brittany Leggett of the Upshur County Youth Livestock to use the Livestock Barn from July 27 through August 2, 2026, for a Youth Livestock Show and Sale (Certificate of Liability Insurance provided). The Commission also approved a $2,000.00 funding request from the Animal Outreach Project for spay/neuter services, and approved the reappointment of Wendell R. Grose to the Elkins Road Public Service District Board of Directors (term beginning October 1, 2026). On a recommendation from addressing staff, the Commission approved the road name Ru Ve Drive for a private drive off Honey Hill Drive.
The minutes list the June WV Regional Jail invoice (1,360 inmate days at a base per diem of $80.72, totaling $109,779.20) and reports from Lewis‑Upshur Animal Control noting 109 animals received in June 2026. With no further business, the Commission adjourned at 11:45 a.m.
