Upshur County Commission approves Prevention Resource Officer agreements for 2026–2027 school year

The Upshur County Commission on July 16 approved Prevention Resource Officer (PRO) Agreements among the Upshur County Board of Education, the Upshur County Sheriff’s Department and the Commission to place PROs at Buckhannon‑Upshur High School, Buckhannon‑Upshur Middle School and Upshur County elementary schools for the 2026–2027 school year.
The motion to approve the agreements was made by Commissioner Samuel R. Nolte and seconded by Commissioner Douglas K. Bush; the motion carried with unanimous consent. The agenda packet lists the three schools by name and specifies the agreement term as the 2026–2027 school year.
Commission leaders said the agreements were reviewed as part of routine school‑safety partnerships between the county and local school district. The item was recorded in the meeting minutes and a copy of the agreements was included in the record for public inspection.
